The first round of 2016’s WFTDA Playoff games took place last weekend in Wichita, Kansas, and lived up to the tournament’s Division 2 history of exciting upsets and results. By the end of the weekend, after entering as the #4 seed, Brandywine took 1st place over the #7 seed, Blue Ridge, who ended up leaving the tournament with 2nd.

This coming weekend, in Lansing, MI, will include the first two of five teams that are new to Playoffs this year, a couple who have risen high enough to make a return, a few teams who dropped out of Division 1 since last year.

Overall, many of the teams experienced inconsistent results this year which makes the whole bracket a bit tough to predict, but all the more exciting for seedings upset potential ahead. The top two finishers will join Brandywine and Blue Ridge in Portland, OR, at Championships this November to decide the ultimate placement of the top four Division 2 teams.

TUCSON, AZ — Arizona entered the tournament seeded 8th, but after defeating Tri-City, 239-170, Arizona will leave with 9th place for the 2015 D1 Playoffs at Tucson. While Tri-City will leave as they entered, in 10th place.
