The Big O Tournament has been a platform for WFTDA, MRDA, and Junior roller derby teams to hit the track since 2011. In 2017 there are 16 WFTDA teams, 9 MRDA, and 4 junior teams in Eugene, Oregon from four different continents.

Alongside the women’s action that will be showcased at the seventh annual “Big O” invitational that launches this Friday in Eugene, Oregon, a baker’s dozen duels sanctioned by the Men’s Roller Derby Association (MRDA) will be featured. Within the mix of the nine leagues appearing are five factions that competed at last year’s MRDA finale, “Lone Star Showdown,” including the current two-time defending title-holder.

2016 MRDA Champs: #6 New York takes 5th against #6 Puget Sound, 180-126

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Playing for 5th place at the 2016 Men’s Roller Derby Association World Championships was the #5 seed New York Shock Exchange against the #6 seed Puget Sound Outcasts of Seattle, WA. Both teams came in ready to rumble and kept the crowed fired up with exciting back and forth exchanges. New York was able to hold out to keep their number five spot 180-126.

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – The third contest of the MRDA World Championships in Texas pitted the number #3 seed Texas Men’s Roller Derby against the #6 seed Puget Sound Outcasts from Seattle. Both teams put in strong work, but Texas was able to hold their hometown advantage and take the win 260-123, and claim a spot in the semifinal round tomorrow.

The saying “Everything’s Bigger in Texas” is an apt describer for this weekend’s Men’s Roller Derby Association (MRDA) Championship tournament as this year’s cycle of the postseason contains king-sized narratives across the board.

LoneStar Showdown” launches this Saturday in North Richland Hills, Texas, with a slate of six games that builds to Sunday morning’s semifinal pairings, and the event’s ensuing trophy tussle later that night.
