The day of rematches started with the  #45 Oklahoma Victory Dolls and #57 E-Ville Roller Derby, reliving not a game from this tournament, but their Championship matchup from Loveland, Colorado’s Mayday Mayhem Tournament in June. In that matchup, OKVD came out 45 points on top of E-Ville despite E-Ville’s impressive run of wins that weekend.

It was a dogfight in Pittsburgh between #14 Bear City and #15 E-Ville, facing off for the first time for the chance to take on #5 Oklahoma and a shot at 7th place. Bear City commanded lead jammer status through much of the game but was undone by a series of high-scoring jams from Shania Pain, as the E-Ville jammer put up 133 points to guide their team to a 207-187 victory.

#15 seed, E-Ville Roller Derby out of Edmonton, Canada faced off for the first time at WFTDA International Playoff at 230pm on Friday against an old standard of the WFTDA: #2 seeded Tucson Roller Derby. E-Ville made their debut thanks to a strong showing at Mayhem Tournament, where their fast game and unapologetic blocking dominated the bracketed tournament. In the end, experience seemed to triumph, as Tucson took the game 250-149.

E-Ville Roller Derby is one of four Canadian teams who qualified for WFTDA Playoffs this year. They join the list of seven teams making the trip for the first time in 2017.

Although the team is located in North America, travel can still be a big undertaking for Canadian teams. E-Ville has been around for over a decade, but they only recently became a member of WFTDA.

Read on to see how their journey will take them from Edmonton, Alberta, to Pittsburgh, PA, this weekend for Division 2 Playoffs.
