SEATTLE, WA – An early challenge from #12 Charlottesville gave #3 Jacksonville a scare as their highly effective defensive strategies fell victim to penalty trouble. The New Jax defense regrouped and endured, however, frustrating Charlottesville jammers and running up their score on the strength of a streak of high-scoring jams.

Despite a slew of jammer penalties, dominant second-half performances from Snot Rocket Science, Krispy Kreme-Her and Leanne Groll made Jacksonville’s lead insurmountable as they defeated Charlottesville, 318-161.

SEATTLE, WA – Any momentum that #6 Rat City picked up in their blowout win over the Mad Rollin’ Dolls early Friday appeared stalled when they took the track against #3 Jacksonville, falling quickly into penalty trouble and a swift New Jax lead.

An inspired defensive effort from the Seattle blocker line let the home team retake control of the game at halftime, however, and despite a Jacksonville rally, that closed Rat City’s lead to just one point, impressive footwork, and smart strategy from jammers Luna Negra and Alyssa Pray ultimately gave Rat City a 186-170 win.

In a weekend full of upsets, no two teams provided bigger surprises than #16 Dublin and #12 Naptown. Dublin’s unexpected victory over top-seeded Auld Reekie and dramatic one-point win over #9 No Coast have been the big story in Pittsburgh, while Naptown’s larger margins over #5 Oklahoma and #4 Jet City caused slightly less nail-biting but were no less impressive. The matchup between these two teams did not disappoint, with Dublin fending off a late rally from Naptown to pull off a 161-158 upset.

Bear City commanded lead jammer status through much of the game but was undone by a series of high-scoring jams from Shania Pain, as the E-Ville jammer put up 133 points to guide their team to a 207-187 victory.

Following an early lead from #13 Treasure Valley, and a subsequent back-and-forth battle for control of the game, a blistering 73-18 run from Ohio to finish out the half sent their Idaho-based opponents home empty-handed.

A trio of powerful jamming performances from Gorges Curves, Val Holla and Pain Train further extended Ohio’s lead in the second half to give them the win, 220-113. They emerged with a berth against #5 Oklahoma, and a guarantee that they’ll finish out the weekend without dropping below a #10 exit.
